EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa is a program managed by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services or USCIS. This type of visa allows foreign investors to immigrate to the U.S. through a business investment. This program started in 1990 and in recent years, it has been really popular among investor applicants from different countries like China, South Korea, Vietnam, India and a lot more. Through this program, 10,000 Green Cards are made available every year by the U.S. government to eligible qualified immigrant investors.
The approach behind this investor visa program is more on creating a “win-win”situation for the foreign investor as well as the U.S. economy. For the foreign investors, they are allowed to immigrate to the U.S. for a variety of reasons such as family, business, studies or work. For the U.S., it has several benefits such as creating more employments and getting the money that some of its communities still need to stimulate from local economies. Now, there are two options available to potential EB-5 applicants. These are Direct Investment and Regional Center investment. Direct Investment is when the applicant is investing into a business while a Regional Center Investment is when applicants invests in a “project”. These Regional Center Investments pre-approved projects are not being endorsed by the U.S. government, instead fall more under a recommendation. What has been done is that the business plan has been validated. Through this validation, an economic forecast has been presented by these businesses which then convinced the U.S. government that these projects proved to be ideal and may actually generate the required EB-5 jobs which then benefits the country itself. This makes the fact-checking work of potential investors easier without disregarding due-diligence. Learn more here. |
