There are several benefits to having an EB-5 Investor Program. One benefit that is noted is allowing a direct route to permanent U.S. residency for the investor, his or her spouse and any children under the age of 21.
The investor can live anywhere, work anywhere and retire anywhere in the country with this program. In addition, the investor and their spouse as well as their children can attend college or a University following the U.S. resident cost instead of a foreign student cost. It is important to remember though that there are certain rules and conditions that need to be met prior to getting these benefits. Moreover, these are benefits that are derived directly from having a green card through an EB-5 program. Last but not the least, there is the freedom to travel, to and from the U.S. without a visa apart from the previously mentioned, 5 years of permanent residency. If the investor or resident meets these certain conditions, they can apply for the U.S. citizenship. Now only quite a few investors will do this, invest $500,000 through a Regional Center to take care of the immigration piece, make money and earn a living in the U.S. and are open to the possibility of getting an additional business from other funds that they might have. A Green Card holder in the U.S. can go work for someone else or can work for themselves, much like being self-employed. They can start a business and it is then not compulsory for the investor to create or sustain 10 full-time jobs because that is not related to their EB5 application. Eventually, if an investor holds a Green Card or becomes a US citizen, they can ‘sponsor’ their extended family members as well. Just a note that the wait time for this is quite a bit, around 10-15 years generally speaking for most of the countries out there because of visa availability issues. If one does become a U.S. citizen, parents, can be brought over to the U.S. in green card status, in usually 6-12 months. Click here to learn more. |
